Special Events for Public and Members
A variety of special events take place at the Vanderbilt estate and in the garden throughout the season, from May through October. In addition, there are regular events, such as the farmer's market, which take place in nearby Hyde Park.
FWVGA Events and Fundraisers
The FWVGA holds various fundraisers throughout the season to provide the money needed to support the garden. All the money raised goes to the purchase of plants, equipment, anything needed to support the garden and the work of the association. Our major fundraiser each year is a spring plant sale, held over Memorial Day Weekend. This sale features plants grown in the Vanderbilt garden, as well as those grown in gardens all over the Hudson Valley.
Garden Tours and Presentations
Members of the FWVGA provide guided tours every third Sunday from May through October. Private tours can be arranged upon request. In addition, volunteers are available for presentations to local civic groups.
Summer Concert Series
Every summer, a series of free concerts are presented at the Vanderbilt site and the Mills Mansion historic site in Staatsburg, NY. For details on these concerts, including the schedule, please see: Hyde Park Recreation Commission
The town of Hyde Park hosts a farmers' market every Saturday from June through October. The market features local produce, organically raised meat, honey and other products. The market takes place at the town hall, approx. 1 mile south of the Vanderbilt estate. For more information, please see: Hyde Park Chamber of Commerce
